The European Studies Society and the Philosophy Club host a debate titled “Capitalism: A Moral Issue?” Thursday, Nov. 13, at 6 p.m. in Portola Pavilion A of the Titan Student Union. Don Watkins of the Ayn Rand Institute, a strong opponent of the welfare state, will square off against critical theorist Douglas Kellner, the George F. Kneller Philosophy of Education Chair in the Graduate School of Education and Information Studies at UCLA.

Mezuzahs, bibles, Boy Scout oaths, crucifixes, copies of the Declaration of Independence, scientology tracts, Buddhist sutras, the collected works of Ayn Rand – sure, you’ll see those here and there, but not everywhere. But we all own televisions…
