I attended OCON 2016 to get the word on objectivism from the horse’s mouth, as it were, and boy did I. My conclusion: ARI and objectivism are great for those seeking a pseudo-intellectual basis for war, intellectual property, and government more broadly. But for those who care for peace, cooperation, and prosperity, one will need to look elsewhere…

Discovery Park of America is placing the provocative philosopher/novelist Ayn Rand on a pedestal with Abraham Lincoln, Ronald Reagan, Thomas Jefferson and the Greek god Prometheus.

The $85 million attraction in Union City, Tenn., last week announced it had just erected statues of Rand and Reagan in its Liberty Square section, where Lincoln already stands. Scheduled to be added are the Jefferson and Prometheus statues.

The addition of Rand’s figure — she stands akimbo and holds a thick book — may surprise some, considering that the park sits 115 miles northeast of Memphis in a rural town of 11,000 residents and near the middle of the Bible Belt.
