Tom Ballantyne, Western Journalism

Some years back I heard Ayn Rand Institute Executive Director Yaron Brook speak at the annual Tea Party conference in Phoenix. He said something that should resonate with every constitutional conservative: “Before Congress ever considers taking up any law, the members should ask themselves one question: Do we, under the Constitution, have the authority to consider this?”

While that is a paraphrase from memory, the rationale for asking such a question is undeniable.

.…[David] Sokol, 59 years old, is becoming increasingly vocal about politics. He is an avowed fan of “Atlas Shrugged,” the 1957 novel by Ayn Rand that made a moral case for capitalism and self interest. In public speeches and columns, Mr. Sokol has drawn comparisons between the dystopian, over-regulated America portrayed in the book and the present day, saying that free enterprise is increasingly under attack.

What do Michelangelo, LeBron James, Steve Jobs, and Bernie Sanders have in common? In this episode of the weekly Budget & Tax News podcast, managing editor and research fellow Jesse Hathaway talks with Yaron Brook, the president and executive director of the Ayn Rand Institute to find out!

Equality is not fair, Brook says, and it’s not an achievable goal in the real world, because everyone has different abilities and skills. Instead of weighing down LeBron James so he’s no better at basketball or make Michelangelo paint left-handed so he’s no better at art than other people, we should embrace the fact that everyone has different talents than everyone else.

The Federalist

There is a narrative that we must fight inequality by raising the minimum wage, raising taxes and redistributing wealth. Yaron Brook, executive director of the Ayn Rand Institute, suggests that this narrative is wrong and that the real threat to the American Dream is an all-out war on success. Brook coauthored the book Equal is Unfair: America’s Misguided Fight Against Income Inequality, and joined the Federalist Radio Hour to explain how free markets and limited government can save the American Dream.

It was fitting for The Heartland Institute’s President and CEO Joe Bast to feature Yaron Brook President of the Ayn Rand Institute, in a discussion of his new book, “Equal Is Unfair: America’s Misguided Fight Against Income Inequality.” Both organizations are fighting for the principles of freedom and liberty as set forth by our Founding Fathers.

Hunter Clauss, WTTW - Chicago Tonight

Income equality is shaping up to be one of the key issues in the 2016 presidential race, but is promoting equality the solution to reinvigorating the nation?

Don Watkins and Yaron Brook from the Ayn Rand Institute argue that fighting against income inequality is misguided in their new book, “Equal is Unfair.“

“What we care about is whether individuals are able to rise by merit—and the fact is that many of the policies the inequality critics say will improve mobility actually make rising by merit much harder,” they argue in the book.

"Chicago Tonight” host Brandis Friedman talked to Brook, executive director of the Ayn Rand Institute and former columnist for Forbes, about his case against equality, what the government should focus its economic policy on and how income inequality is being addressed in the presidential election.
